Transportation of Turkmenistan gas to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic via the territory of Iran has been started, Deputy Chairman of Public Relations and Events Organization Department of SOCAR Ibrahim Ahmadov told APA-Economics.
According to him, rest of Turkmenistan gas, considered for Azerbaijan, will be received on border with Iran, in the vicinity of Astara, in relevance with the reached agreement. Relevant technical preparations and adjustment works are conducted for it.
“We want all to be ready within a short period of time,” I. Ahmadov noted.
I. Ahmadov also added that receive of more than 4 mln. cubic meters of gas is considered by Azerbaijan daily in both directions mentioned above.
Remind that an agreement on gas exchange (SWAP) was signed among Azerbaijan, Iran, and Turkmenistan on November 28 in Ashgabat. Turkmenistan will transfer daily 5-6 mln cubic meters of gas to Azerbaijan by means of Iran, annual volume will be 1,5-2 bln. cubic meters.
Within the framework of SWAP agreement, Iran supplying Turkmenistan gas to Azerbaijan, will be able to meet its gas needs in 5 provinces.
