Shavkat Mirziyoyev lands in New York

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev landed in New York on the night of September 17, where he will attend the 78th session of the UN General Assembly and other events.

According to the president’s press service, at the JFK airport he was welcomed by New York Mayor Eric Adams, Chairman of the American-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce Carolyn Lamm and other officials.

On September 19, Shavkat Mirziyoyev will address the general debate of the plenary session of the UN General Assembly, where he will present “his vision on the regional and global agenda.”

On the sidelines of the UN events, the Central Asia and the United States Summit will take place in the C5+1 format, as well as a series of bilateral meetings with heads of states, heads of international organizations and US companies.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the session of the UN General Assembly the next year after being elected president – in September 2017. In his address, he spoke about the formation of a new image of Uzbekistan, foreign policy priorities and the need to review methods of combating terrorism.

In May 2018, Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the United States and held talks with previous President Donald Trump.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also attended the 75th session of the UN General Assembly in 2020, which was held online for the first time due to the coronavirus pandemic.
