“At the CSTO meeting, President Tokayev informed in detail what happened in Kazakhstan. It was a protest over economic issues, but then the issue took a back seat and unrest broke out in the country,” said Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov at his press conference, APA reports.

The ambassador touched upon the operation carried out by the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Kazakhstan.

“As a member of the CSTO, Kazakhstan requested assistance in accordance with the relevant clause in the bloc’s agreement. The CSTO troops sent there protected strategic and humanitarian important facilities. After the situation became stable, the troops deployed there left Kazakhstan. Along with Russia, other neighboring countries also supported Kazakhstan,” Ambassador added.
