President Sadyr Japarov signed the law ratifying the financing agreement to air quality improvement project between Kyrgyzstan and the International Development Association, signed on December 12.
The law was adopted by the Parliament on April 18, 2024.
The law provides for the implementation of procedures necessary for the ratification of the agreement. The International Development Association allocates a $50 million loan to Kyrgyzstan to improve air quality, according to the agreement.
It is proposed to use loan funds for the construction and modernization of automated air quality monitoring stations, modernization of the chemical laboratory for testing air quality, technical assistance in strengthening air quality control procedures, introduction of clean heating technologies in private homes, construction of irrigation systems to ensure the sustainability of urban landscaping in Bishkek.
