On July 14, 2021, in Dushanbe, Nuran Niyazaliev, the first Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, took part in the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO) member states.

In accordance with the meeting agenda, the sides discussed the results of SCO member states’ activities for 20 years and the objectives to further develop the cooperation within SCO member states, as well as the important international and regional issues.

Besides, the heads of delegations of SCO member states discussed the preparation of the upcoming anniversary meeting of the Council of the Heads of SCO member states.

Nuran Niyazaliev, the first Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, stressed in his speech, that currently the collaboration within SCO covers all areas, including the issues of security, counterterrorism, illegal trafficking of drugs, cooperation in the humanitarian field, education, health, culture, environment protection and many other areas. He paid special attention to the necessity of taking joint measures on post-pandemia economic recovery, food security, transit transportation projects’ development and implementation of the initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic within the SCO framework.

The Kyrgyz side proposed to continue close work within the existing mechanisms of SCO to fight Covid-19, especially taking into account the new strains of the virus, continue the practice of exchanges between the specialists and doctors of SCO member states on the prevention methods and fighting the Covid-19 spread.

Concluding the meeting, the sides signed а number of decisions of the Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the SCO member states.
