Kyrgyz MFA sums up the result of current diplomatic efforts

On July 28, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Ruslan Kazakbaev held a meeting with the heads of the diplomatic missions of the Kyrgyz Republic in the format of a video conference.

During the meeting the results of the diplomatic activity for the first half of current year have been discussed and tasks for the rest of 2021 have been set up.

In his opening remarks, the Minister noted that in the context of the next wave of coronavirus infection, a tough post-crisis situation, constitutional reforms in the country, it becomes obvious that the Ministry should continue working in the crisis management mode in promoting the country’s foreign policy interests.

Summing up the work on the implementation of the first Plan of Anti-Crisis Measures and Step-by-Step Actions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic for the period from October 15, 2020, to February 15, 2021, and the second Anti-Crisis Action Plan for the period from February 16 to June 30, 2021, approved by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Sadyr Japarov, the Minister stressed that most of the divisions of the diplomatic service of the Kyrgyz Republic made every effort to achieve the tasks set for each of the directions of both Anti-Crisis Action Plans, that is political and economic measures, measures to stabilize the epidemiological situation on COVID-19, to protect the rights and interests of our citizens abroad, etc.

In general, in pursuance of the second Anti-Crisis Plan, more than 500 events were held, including 40 visits and events at the highest and high levels, 9 visits and events with the participation of high-ranking officials of foreign states, as well as 14 visits of delegations of the Kyrgyz Republic to foreign countries, including 7 visits at the level of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, 5 visits of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, more than 35 videoconferencing meetings.

Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev highlighted the activities to counter the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, to attract the necessary financial, technical and humanitarian assistance to the country, and to assist in restructuring the external debt.

In conclusion, Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev outlined the main tasks for the diplomatic missions of the Kyrgyz Republic, outlined in the third Anti-Crisis Action Plan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic for the period from July 1, 2021, approved by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Sadyr Japarov, among which are the tasks of protecting the rights of citizens, defending the interests of the Kyrgyz Republic for abroad, expanding regional integration processes, strengthening strategic partnership relations, developing mutually beneficial relations with allied and friendly countries and international organizations.

The Minister focused special attention on the need to continue efforts within the framework of economic diplomacy, investments attraction, and assist to the development of the regions of the Kyrgyz Republic.
