Uzbekistan Railways, the Tourism Committee under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, as well as the Italian company Arsenale signed a tripartite memorandum on the development and production of a luxury tourist train.
The document was signed on the margins of the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand.
Expectedly the tourist train will be launched from the end of 2026; it will run on the Tashkent-Samarkand-Bukhara-Khiva route.
The luxury train will consist of 13 cars with 38 compartments, designed for 66 passengers. The company officials emphasized that they the service quality in the cars and the interior design “will be Italian.”
Deputy CEO of Uzbekistan Railways Khikmatulla Rakhmetov underscored that “the concept of launching rail cruises as the future of tourism fits perfectly with our desire for innovation and sustainable development.”
The luxury train project, which aims to attract the attention of foreign travelers, will be carried out under the auspices of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade.
Uzbekistan has become the third market country in Asia for Arsenale. Prior to this, the company announced plans to launch luxury trains in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
