The head of the parliamentary friendship group of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan for cooperation with Austria, Eldar Abakirov, met with the head of the parliamentary friendship group for Central Asia at the Austrian National Council, Ewa Ernst-Dziedzic, the parliament’s press service reported.
The meeting was also attended by MPs Yrysbek Atajanov, Gulia Kojokulova, Mirgul Temirbaeva and chief of staff Alaybek Alymbayev.
The parties discussed issues of strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and expanding dialogue between relevant committees and friendship groups.
MP Eldar Abakirov noted the fruitful nature of the negotiations held between Parliament Speaker Nurlanbek Shakiev and President of the National Council of Austria Wolfgang Sobotka. “We are deeply confident that this meeting will give impetus to the further development of inter-parliamentary cooperation,” he said.
He provided brief information on the activities of the Kyrgyz parliament. “The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan is interested in exchange of experience in the legislative sphere, expanding connections between relevant committees and friendship groups. To do this, we need to organize bilateral visits on a regular basis,” Eldar Abakirov suggested.
Touching on the topic of environmental cooperation, MP Abakirov called on the Austrian side to work together in the field of nature conservation and mountain development.
The current state of relations between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union was also discussed at the meeting.
Ewa Ernst-Dziedzic said that the National Council of Austria is interested in cooperation with the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.
She noted that Austria has extensive experience in the field of mountain tourism and expressed its readiness to provide assistance in training specialists in this field. Recommendations were also made for implementation of bilateral projects in the field of tourism.
