The establishment of the Kyrgyz-German Business Council will serve as an effective step to enhance trade, economic, investment and financial cooperation between the two countries, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov said during the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-German Business Council in Bishkek.

He noted that a year ago Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov supported the initiative to establish the Kyrgyz-German Business Council, aimed at giving a new impetus in the relationship between entrepreneurs of the two countries.

“We have ambitious tasks. The Cabinet of Ministers is open to dialogue and cooperation. We offer to study and implement large and medium-sized projects in all sectors of the economy and are set to work around the clock with every foreign investor and entrepreneur. Line ministries and their heads are ready to work directly with investors, giving them help and assistance,” Akylbek Zhaparov said.

The head of the Cabinet continued that cooperation in the financial sector, industry, agro-industrial complex and its cooperation, mutual and foreign trade, technical regulation, sanitary, veterinary and phytosanitary measures, transport and infrastructure, human resources and vocational education are promising areas of cooperation within the Business Council. At the same time, he proposed to include such financial institutions as KFW and Deutsche Bank in the German part of the Business Council.

“There is significant potential for the development of cooperation with the German side in trade and investment areas, especially in the current realities. Trade cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany on the basis of the GSP+ status granted to our country by the European Union is favorable for the Kyrgyz Republic. In the field of export promotion there are also certain results, in particular, for organic products. In recent years the export of dried fruits, namely prunes and walnuts is carried out,” Akylbek Zhaparov concluded.
