Samad Seyidov: Azerbaijan-Russia relations meet international principles

Azerbaijan and Russia presented a new concept of relations in the region that meets international principles, laws and regulations, and also serves to strengthen cooperation with their closest neighbors, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign and Interparliamentary Relations of the Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament), Samad Seyidov, said at the meeting with Grigory Karasin, Chair of the Russian Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs.

“We were able to present to the international community of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation a new concept of relations between the states of our region”, Seyidov said.

According to him, this concept was formed by the leaders of the two states, and the basis of this policy was laid by the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Azerbaijan in 2001 and the meeting with the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev.
