David Matikashvili, the First Deputy Chair of the Legal Issues Committee of the Georgian Parliament, on Monday said fulfilling the nine conditions set out by the European Commission in November for opening European Union accession talks with the country was the Government’s “priority”.
In comments to the media, Matikashvili said the ruling Georgian Dream party was “actively working” for the objective.
He also claimed the Lelo opposition party had “crossed all limits of rationality and political sanity” by boycotting the process.
Matikashvili also alleged “inaction” of the other domestic political groups “does not prevent” the implementation of the recommendations, adding the ruling party would welcome opposition parties taking “positive steps” for the work.
