Blinken: Azerbaijan and Armenia May Soon Agree on Peace

There is an opportunity to actually bring a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia to fruition, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said at the hearings in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, according to Report.

“I do not want to exaggerate it, but I think there is an opportunity to actually bring a peace agreement to fruition,” he said, commenting on Washington’s attempts to assist the normalization between Baku and Yerevan.

He said he met with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at a security conference in Munich this year.

“I have had the foreign ministers of the two countries here in Washington, and I expect them to come back. So, there is a moment of opportunity for the people of Armenia, as well as Azerbaijan,” he said.
