Indonesia, US hold joint military drill

BATU RAJA, INDONESIA – AUGUST 04: Indonesia and the US began the largest joint military exercise in the history of relations between the two countries in Martapura, Batu Raja, South Sumatra, Wednesday, August 04, 2021

The Garuda Shield joint drill was opened by Indonesian Chief of Army Staff General Andika Perkasa and Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) General Charles Flynn.

The two chiefs expressed their hopes that the exercise, which involved 2,161 Indonesian soldiers and 1,547 US Army personnel, could boost the capabilities of soldiers and improve bilateral relations between the two countries.
