Macron asks Xi to help address fallout from Ukraine-Russia conflict

French President Emmanuel Macron and Chinese President Xi Jinping met on Tuesday on the sidelines of the G20 summit, where Macron called on his counterpart to “unite” with Paris in tackling the challenges posed by Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, China Central Television said, APA reports citing Teletrader.

In his remarks to Macron, Xi reportedly expressed Beijing’s readiness to jointly resolve global issues of energy and food security, without mentioning the conflict.

On Monday, the French presidency said Macron would use his meeting with Xi to urge China to “pressure” Russia to negotiate.
