An agreement to restart grain shipments from Ukraine will be signed in Istanbul on Friday, according to Türkiye’s Communications Directorate.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and UN chief Antonio Guterres will attend the ceremony at the Dolmabahce Presidential Office, the directorate said in a statement on Thursday.
Tons of Ukrainian grain is stuck due to the Russia-Ukraine war that is in its fifth month, causing global shortages and price hikes.
Russia, facing accusations of using food as a weapon, says Western sanctions are to blame for the crisis.
Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian and UN officials agreed at a meeting last week to establish a coordination center in Istanbul to facilitate Ukrainian grain exports.
