Leaders of six Western Balkan countries were invited to Brussels to meet members of the European Council, the council said Wednesday.
The meeting with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia will take place June 23 in Brussels on the premises of the European Council, it said.
It aims to promote enhanced EU-Western Balkans engagement, it added.
The EU attaches strategic importance to the Western Balkans and wants the countries of the region to act in harmony with the EU’s foreign policies.
EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell met his counterparts from the Western Balkans in Brussels on Monday where he said that maintaining close ties with Russia is “no longer compatible with building a common future with the EU.”
