US House approves new China committee

The United States House of Representatives voted on Tuesday in favor of establishing the Select Committee on China, APA reports citing Teletrader.

Besides all House Republicans, 146 Democrats supported the plan with the final vote tally standing at 365-65. The new panel will likely be led by Mike Gallagher, a Republican lawmaker from Wisconsin.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said earlier in the day that the committee will focus on issues such as bringing jobs back from China to the US, securing America’s intellectual property and protecting US farmland.
