MFA: Beijing to take retaliatory measures against countries restricting entry of Chinese

by ANKASAM Ekip

Beijing will retaliate against those states and regions that have imposed entry restrictions on Chinese citizens under the pretext of preventive measures to combat coronavirus, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said at a briefing, Report informs referring to TASS.

“We strongly oppose attempts to manipulate epidemic prevention and control measures to achieve political goals,” she said, adding that depending on different situations, China will take measures in accordance with the principle of reciprocity.

At the end of 2022, an increase in the incidence of COVID was recorded in China.

Against the backdrop of claims by Chinese scientists about the relative harmlessness of the omicron strain, the Chinese authorities canceled most of the restrictive anti-COVID measures. After that, a number of states and regions worldwide obliged residents of mainland China to take a PCR test for coronavirus before departure. In particular, England (but not other parts of the United Kingdom), Italy, Spain, Israel, the island of Taiwan and Japan did so.
