The 12th Kyrgyz-Indian joint military exercise “Khanjar” in Kyrgyzstan has ended successfully, Akipress reported. The exercise aimed to strengthen cooperation between the military personnel of the two countries and improve their joint operational capabilities, the Kyrgyz Defense Ministry said in a statement. Soldiers from Kyrgyzstan’s special forces units and India’s Parachute Regiment participated in the exercise. Scenarios such as counter-terrorism operations, operations in mountainous terrain and joint tactical maneuvers were practiced during the training. Kyrgyz Defense Ministry officials stressed that the exercise is an important demonstration of defense cooperation between the two countries. The Indian side, in turn, expressed appreciation for Kyrgyzstan’s contribution to regional security. The “Khanjar” series of exercises has been held regularly between the two countries since 2011. This year’s exercise was held at a military training ground near the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek. Military experts note that such joint training contributes to security stability in the region and deepens defense relations between the two countries.
