Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry and IOM Discuss New Projects on Safe Migration to Europe

Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Asein Isaev met with Arthur Erken, Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and discussed new projects on safe migration to Europe. The issues of protecting the rights of migrants, combating human trafficking and making migration processes safer were discussed.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan noted the growing trend of migration from the country to Europe and emphasized the importance of international cooperation to reduce the difficulties faced by citizens in this process and ensure the safety of migrants. IOM officials, in turn, expressed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, noting that work will be carried out to implement new projects, especially in the areas of raising awareness of migrants, promoting legal migration routes and combating human trafficking. The meeting also discussed steps to solve the problems faced by migrants during the return process. The two sides agreed to carry out joint work in this field and to provide safer and more dignified conditions for migrants both during the departure and return processes.
