Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong participated in the 28th Meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) held at 20:00-24:00, August 6, in a virtual format. During the Meeting, the participants exchanged views on various security issues in the region, including those regarding the Korean Peninsula, Myanmar and the South China Sea.
The 16th Annual Consultations between Bhutan and Japan on Economic Cooperation was held virtually on 10th August 2021. Mr. Sonam Tobgay, Director, Department of Bilateral Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led the Bhutanese delegation. The Japanese delegation was led by Mr. Shingo Miyamoto, Minister (Economic and Development), Embassy of Japan, New Delhi. Mr. Kozo Watanabe, Chief Representative, JICA Bhutan Office and other officials from the JICA Headquarters also attended the meeting.

1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong had a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken on the morning of August 6 and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including the ROK-U.S. Alliance and Korean Peninsula issues.
On the afternoon of August 4, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Yeo Seung-bae held the virtual 11th Korea-Kazakhstan Policy Consultation meeting with Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Nuryshev Shakhrat. They had an extensive exchange of opinions on issues of mutual interest including bilateral relations, substantive cooperation, multilateral and international cooperation, and the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
